More than just eliminating the blackhead, pimples and whiteheads on your face, laser treatment can actually shrink the size of the sebaceous glands on your face – glands responsible for producing the oil on your face.
What causes acne itself is the immune system of the body fighting off the bacteria feeding off the excess oil and dirt on your face. The number of sessions for a laser acne treatment will depend on the severity of the case. On the average, about five to six sessions may be needed. For less severe cases, fewer sessions may be needed. More sessions will be needed for more severe cases, often up to nine or ten sessions.
The procedure is not entirely painless although analgesics are or can be applied to minimize or eliminate discomfort. The overall experience of patients with regards to sensation seems to be akin to the skin being pulled tight.
There are actually different types of laser treatments for acne in the market. One is the acne laser smoothbeam. There are also treatments for body acne. Other laser treatments include the light treatment – which is said to be quick and painless – and the clearlight treatment – which seems to be recommended for a wider age group.
