How to Treat Acne Rosacea

Acne can take on many types and versions. Acne Rosacea is a special type of acne because of one reason. Unfortunately, there are no medically proven cures for rosacea. When the acne is first noticed, it is only then when people start rushing to their dermatologists for cure. Unfortunately, seeing the acne for the first time is already too late. As the old saying goes, prevention is better than cure. This truly applies to the treatment of this condition. Thus, we go to the next best thing – minimizing the instances of the symptoms so that occurrences can also be decreased.

As mentioned, there is no medically proven cure for acne rosacea. However, dermatologists attack on the symptoms, before the symptoms complicate and eventually become acne. Most treatments for rosacea will just control the symptoms. The inevitable will eventually happen. After a few weeks to a few months, the acne will resurface. However, despite the acne’s recurring behavior, it is still important to treat the symptoms, coupled with a few tweaks here and there in our lifestyle.

One of the most effective medicines for rosacea is oral tetracycline. Similar antibiotics and low-dose oral accutane also work, provided that the antibiotics do are not chemically harmful to the patient’s physiological make-up. If the case isn’t that severe, commercially available gels and creams may do the trick. A week’s worth of continuous dosage can control the acne’s growth for a significant amount. After the strict treatment, patients can then proceed with just intermittent dosages of the same medicine.

If you have tried several medicines but still to no avail, there is always the final option – just hiding the acne with make-up. Although this isn’t really technically an acne rosacea treatment procedure, this will make the acne less visible and appear less severe. To hide the redness of the acne, women can put on olive hued make-up more than the usual. Men can also use concealers to hide their blemishes.

There is no clear cut solution for acne rosacea, but we can definitely control it before it takes control of our lives. Couples a disciplined effort to apply the medication with a healthy lifestyle, and you are most likely going to have less and less issues with your acne.
